For "North Pole Rock 'n' Roll" (from Elfis and The Sleigh Riders; also available as a Singles Reproducible Kit), this is what we're doing. (My kids are all packed on the risers.)
First part: Do you wanna rock at the...Yes we wanna rock at the N. P.
(LH to right shoulder palm out and the hand moves to the left in front of body, then RH to left shoulder palm out... Kids said this is a disco John Travolta move from Grease.)
Do you wanna rock? (hands on slightly bent knees)
Yea! (raise fist straight over head)
Do ya wanna rock and roll? (Point, then do the rolling hands to the left, then the right.)
North (LH arm straight out palm down)
Pole (RH arm straight out palm down beside LH)
Rock (Turn the LH palm up)
and (Turn RH palm up)
Roll (rolling arms to left)
Rock and roll (rolling arms)
Rock (LH arm straight out palm down)
And (RH arm straight out palm down)
Roll (rolling arms)
North Pole Rock and roll (crouch down and dribble the basketball close to the floor. Stand a little straighter each time the phrase repeats until straight up the last time.
Last "North Pole" (left shoulder down pointing to left foot)
Rock and Roll (right shoulder down pointing to right foot)
Do ya (point out to audience) wanna
rock and roll (rolling arms)
Do the John Travolta thing again on the DS.
I have my third graders on the left side of the stage leading with the questions, and the first and second graders on the right side do the answers, so they are actually pointing back and forth at each other. I hope this makes sense. Man, is it hard to write moves!
