Don't You Think It's Chilly? (a warm-up exercise)
by Teresa Jennings
Anne introduced a new warm-up for us in her Vocal Clinic on pages 59-60 of this issue called "Brrr! It's Cold." Once you get your students' lips good and loose after this warm-up, we thought it might be fun to add an extension as an exercise that actually uses the warm-up in the context of a song. We suggest you divide your class into two groups and treat it as a call and response. So, group 1 sings two bars, and group 2 answers with the flapping lip warm-up per Anne's instruction. It continues thusly throughout. Get it? If not, listen to the recording and you will. On the repeat, switch groups so everyone has a chance to do each part.
