Rockin' Raptor
by Paul Jennings
We decided to do this tune in part because of a spirited discussion this year on the great Music K-8 Mailing List about available materials for teachers who start their recorder students on the notes A and C. We are including it in this first issue knowing that whether you start your year with it or not, it will be a fun resource at some point in the year.
The tune is driving shuffle rock, or perhaps rockabilly to some ears, complete with a big jazzy horn section. The rhythms are simple and repetitive, in a blues form. Again, to get an overview of the chart, you can get the piano/recorder score at our web site for free.
