I Want To Be An Elf
by Teresa Jennings
Your young singers are given the opportunity to express their inner elves with this cute song. With such motivation as toys, candy, and flying reindeer, who can blame them? As easy as it is to sing, you might also want to add a bit of movement if you use this in performance. To help with that, Melissa Schott has created some simple choreography that you can imitate or adapt however you like. You can watch her demo with kids on a free downloadable video. (See details on page 77.)
For super simple costuming, just have kids wear red and/or green clothes, but add a pointy elf hat. Basic is fine. You can make it of construction paper or fabric or even buy pre-made hats if you have the budget. A few reindeer would also blend nicely with the ensemble since they are mentioned in the song.
