Don't Be A Turkey

The title of this funky horn band tune says it all: Don't Be A Turkey. At least not during Thanksgiving or the holiday season in general. It could be detrimental to your health!

The subjects of our song certainly seem to be missing the point as the way-too-audible gobbles keep coming through. Select a few turkey soloists to represent your clueless birds, or just have one turkey soloist who does all the gobble solos throughout. Same goes for the hushing solos – several or a few or just one. Until the end, that is, when everyone joins in trying to get the turkey(s) to be quiet.

To really spice things up, you can make this quite the production number by incorporating some movement and perhaps even a few turkey costumes. With disguises even. The movement suggestions are right on the music at the bottom of page 56. These are basic steps, but will give you an idea of what you might do to start with. Keep it this easy, or really get carried away. If you have any young dancers who enjoy this type of song, put a spotlight on them and stand back.
