Let's Get Started
by Teresa & Paul Jennings
Our original motivation for this shortie was to give you a quick, easy, high energy piece to, well, get started. It could be used at the beginning of class, the school day, a meeting, a program, or whatever you need. We suggest on the music that if you use it for a performance, you can substitute lyrics at measure 9: "Let's make this an awesome show. Let's get started, here we go!" Then the final tag would also be, "Let's get started, here we go!"
Choreography videos - Our superb choreographer, Melissa Schott, has created some dance moves that you can use for this song to make it even more special. For flexibility, and because it is so short, she has given a couple of different options – one easier than the other. As always, she suggests altering and adapting any of the movement to suit your situation more appropriately. PDFs of her detailed instructions are included along with the free downloadable videos. (See details on page 62.)
While the instrumental background you will hear on the Performance/Accompaniment recording is pretty cool, thanks to Paul's jazz ensemble arrangement, we also found ourselves enjoying just the rhythm section mix. So we decided to separate it out and let you listen and/or share it with your students. You can find it with the online extras for this issue. (See details on page 62 for this as well.)
