The Brave
by John Riggio
This is one you're going to want to turn way up. If you're a fan of John's awesome Celtic style tunes, you will appreciate what he has done with this inspiring tribute to our veterans and troops. It features lots of drums, fiery strings, fiddle, penny whistle, bodhrán, acoustic guitar, and mandolin. Orchestral chimes add to the patriotic energy. There is an adventurous, rollicking feel from start to finish.
The song is sung in unison throughout until four bars from the end, where there is an optional 3-part divisi. In typical Plank Road fashion, we make the instrumental studio players do the heavy lifting while the singers' part is fairly easy. Even so, piano and strings play the melody at times, and there is a harp melody throughout.
This song is appropriate for Veterans Day or any day your class is honoring our armed forces.
