Hop Like A Bunny

If you're looking for an easy primary tune you can program for your spring or Easter concert, you've found it! Little kids who are still young enough to appreciate a good hop and wiggle will get a kick out of the chance to demonstrate their bunny moves.

Set in a light swing style, the song is deliberately simple, repetitious, and short. That way it's readily learned, even if you prefer to teach it by rote.

The real cute factor will come from the execution of the movements. When the lyrics say "hop," have your kiddos hop. (Just a short, simple one.) Likewise when the lyrics referring to wiggling of ears, nose, paws, and toes, let them have at it. You can either have them just sing the bridge with no movement (starting at bar 15) or you can let them hop throughout the bridge. You can try to have them do it to the beat, or every other bar, or any combination thereof. But if experience is any gauge, you will have a bunch of freestyle hoppers no matter what you plan. If you can corral them enough though, try to get them to do a fluffy tail movement when it's mentioned. That will help them know it's time to repeat the song.
