Sure As Stars Cling To The Sky
by Mike Wilson
"Sure As Stars Cling To The Sky" is a new 1960s-type folk song with an optional 2-part voicing. Standard acoustic '60s instrumentation fills out this arrangement... guitars, piano, acoustic bass, drums, and strings. The range is fairly low so use that to bring across a tender, legato approach to your vocal performance. You can hear where the music swells. Swell with it. Especially at the modulation and into the third verse.
The third verse is where (optional) part 2 comes in. It's in just the right range for the maturing boys in your choir. Even so, the majority of our kids handled it easily.
I love using old-timey words and contractions such as "t'was," "ne'er," and "dar'st." They might require a little explanation if your kids aren't familiar. Enjoy this little folk song about friendship, love, life, and the fleeting of time. (See details in the box on page 78 for accessing the rehearsal audio for part 2.)
