Easter Basket Pink
by Teresa Jennings
Decisions, decisions. Your youngest singers are faced with quite a conundrum when trying to decide which Easter basket to choose. With six different colorful options, it's not an easy task! But at least while they're considering their options, they have this cute little song to help them. (It's also a great way to help them review their color names and recognition.) At the end of the song, you can punctuate the performance by letting one of your students say the optional spoken solo, "Well, I guess I'm just gonna have to take 'em all!" That will definitely get a smile, if not a chuckle from your audience.
Extra fun at Easter! - Along with singing, you could engage your students with an arts and crafts project that allows them to actually make the Easter baskets they're singing about. Artist Kristyn Johnson has once again come up with a neat activity to use in conjunction with one of our tunes. She has created a PDF template and instructions and a video that show you how to put it together. You can download them from our web site for free if you're a subscriber. Even if you don't use this craft activity, be sure you have baskets that display the colors mentioned in the song: pink, blue, yellow, green, white, and purple.
