Build A Taco
by John Riggio
This super fun tune is easy to learn and one that your kiddos will eat up – figuratively and literally! Who doesn't like tacos? And this song tells you how to build them. Or at least one version of a taco. There are lots of different varieties.
The verse and chorus lyrics simply repeat, however on the repeat we have spoken solos beginning in bar 27 which describe the taco experience. These are suggestions only, so feel free to use your own descriptors. The first set of solos describes the meats you could use: beef, chicken, or pork. The second set suggests different cheeses you could use: cheddar, Chihuahua, or Manchego. The third set describes the heat intensity of your taco: mild, medium, or spicy. (We like how our studio singer Asa said "spicy" on the recording.) The last set of spokens describes the experience of eating a taco: yummy, tasty, and fun!
We also have claps on this song, but the rhythms are challenging, and for that reason we left the live claps on the instrumental performance of the song. That way, whether your students attempt the claps or not, they'll be there. Speaking of reinforcement, there is also a nylon guitar melody on the recording of this tune, in case the kids need it.
Kudos to our wonderful rhythm players who helped make this tune Latin and lively!
