A Hat For My Snowman
by Teresa & Paul Jennings
Your youngest singers will shine with this cute and bouncy little tune about providing the appropriate attire for a snowman. The song outlines the options – hat, mittens, buttons, scarf, and even shoes. The topper that completes the look is, of course, the carrot nose. While most of us may think of a snowman with a top hat, who's to say it can't be a cowboy hat or a beanie or a baseball cap or any other type of hat? Let your kids talk about it and decide what their choice would be. As an extension, have them draw pictures to accompany the song accordingly. Share them with the school or audience on a bulletin board or other type of display, such as a PowerPoint® presentation, during a performance.
Snow dancing! - Once again, our choreographer, Melissa Schott, has come up with some easy-to-learn steps for your young singers. As always, feel free to adapt any way you like (simpler or harder), or use exactly as she designed them. You will find a video which includes her full demonstration as well as step-by-step instructions on our web site. A PDF of her teaching notes is available as well.
Make a snowman! - This tune is a natural for kids to do a bit of craft work, if you wish. Our arts and crafts specialist, Kristyn Johnson, has created a simple activity for students to make their own little snowmen with easy to find, easy to use, and best of all, easy to afford supplies.
