Tomorrow's Our Day
by Teresa & Paul Jennings
The end of the year frequently means all manner of celebrations and ceremonies that focus on graduation, recognition, achievement, and most notably, moving forward. If your school is one that likes to put on a good show for this special time, you'll appreciate having this super fun, high energy, jazzy tune. It would make a terrific opener or closer for an event, and since it doesn't actually mention "graduation," you could really use it any time.
It's all unison until the end where there is an optional divisi, and lyrics are simple and memorable enough that learning it will be a snap. Be sure to crank up the recording to inspire your singers to belt it out. (And also so they can hear the awesome jazz ensemble cookin' away with Paul's excellent arrangement.)
And speaking of snaps, you also have the option of adding some of those. Our suggestion for adding them is indicated on the music, but you can adapt them any way you like. There are written cues for patsching (thigh slapping) as well, which you don't have to use, but which add a little action, challenge, and rhythmic punctuation.
Tomorrow's our day... to dance!
If you want to get a little more carried away with your performance, we've also got some movement ideas you can imitate as is or adapt freely. Our choreographer, Melissa Schott, has provided a demonstration your kids can learn pretty easily and quickly. You will find information which includes a video and PDF tutorial on our web site for free.
