It's Gonna Be Alright
by Mike Wilson
Along about the first of April, 2020, the lockdowns were starting where I live. There was a growing sense of worry and panic about the future. I was inspired to write a little song of hope called, "It's Gonna Be Alright" that I thought might help. I shared it with Teresa and suggested I might do a virtual choir of it with my grandkids. I'm blessed to have enough of them to make a small choir… actually enough for a small town. She loved the idea. So I recorded the instruments in recording software on my laptop and sent off an MP3 to my oldest son and his wife in Missouri. Their kids learned the song, listened on their iPad with headphones, and sang into a little system at their house. Then they sent the files to me. I did the same with another son and daughter-in-law whose kids sang it into their iPhones and sent their files as well. I set up a little recording studio in my living room and had the rest of my grandkids sing the song there. I combined all the tracks and mixed it at my dining room table. Once the quarantines started lifting, we were able to get back into the studio to add strings and do a "proper" mix. The result is presented here in this issue. The simple, short, unison song is targeted toward a younger group, but the message is universal. We hope you like it. Peace. - MW
