Sweet Georgia Lite
adapted/arr. Paul Jennings
As we were creating our setting for "Sweet Georgia Brown" (see the next tune), we discussed humorous ideas around the song. One involved a Boomwhacker® player who only gets to play the one phrase that is playable on his diatonic instrument... and then has to wait through the whole rest of the tune for it to come around again! So for the fun of it, we turned the concept around and did an arrangement that just used that one-key phrase with a quick repeat section that includes just that phrase over and over. We give you a couple of repeats to get everyone wondering where the rest of the song has gone.
Besides being a cool jazz shuffle with a touch of hip hop, this piece lets you feature your BW players in a unique, albeit silly, way. And while that one repeating phrase does not technically use all of the diatonic notes, Paul makes sure no BW is left out. (You could say, it's really a peach...)
You'll find an extracted BW part at our web site.
