Exploration AGE
by Dan Thieman
Get ready to explore the notes A, G, and (low) E with the recorder piece, "Exploration AGE." The orchestra, combined with a driving rock band and meandering synths, creates an exciting contemporary symphonic rock flavor for your recorder players to play along with.
The recorder part doesn't have complex rhythms or syncopations, which helps keep the focus on note fingering and sound production. With the tempo on the faster side, an emphasis on counting will be helpful. Most likely, your players already know how to play A and G, but low E may be a newer note for them. It can also be a challenge for the instrument to speak well with the lower notes. Frequent reminders to use less air for the low E to avoid squeaking will be useful.
If you would like to follow along, the piano/recorder score is available online, along with the recorder part for ease in duplication.
