We're Coming Back

by John Riggio

Is there anything like the feeling of a new school year? New friends, new possibilities, new school supplies, etc. This song celebrates the excitement that a new school year brings. Each one is like a fresh start, with opportunities to learn and do new things.

This is a rock song, so sing it out! There are several layers of electric guitars and of course, our very own Dane Clark rocking the drums as only he can. The melody is covered by various instruments throughout the song (piano, electric piano, synthesizers) so your students will have that extra help learning it. Please note the rest in bar 30, where singers should take a big breath (or as we like to say "tank up") before the chorus, with no breath in bar 32.

This is a perfect song for an opening rally for the school year, or just to welcome students back to school.

Back to dancing, too! - Given the excitement of this tune, it seemed only right to have movement ideas available for it, too. Our choreographer, Melissa Schott, has given us some terrific ideas to employ, either as she presents them, or adapted however works best for you. On our web site, you will find her free video and a PDF of teaching notes.
