It's Good To Give Thanks
by John Riggio
The holiday season is upon us, and what better way to bring it in than to give thanks for the many blessings we enjoy. It's easy to look at situations in our lives (or even the world at large) and complain, but we're happier people when we take on an attitude of gratitude. We unburden our hearts when we're thankful. Like John says in the song "Gratitude" (Music K-8, Vol. 32, No. 2), you can change the world with gratitude. Gratitude improves our outlook and there are health benefits to it. And if you can't think of anything to be thankful for, there's always pumpkin pie!
This is a 2-part song beginning at measure 27, and where part 1 acts a bit like a pedal bass line at the chorus (bar 33), part 2 carries the melody line. There are guide melodies for each part on our accompaniment tracks to assist your students. There is also a part 2 rehearsal track online that you can use to assist them further.
This song would be a nice addition to a Thanksgiving program or any performance where gratitude is the theme.
