Find A Pot Of Gold

by Teresa Jennings

Whether it's the infectious hip hop groove or the way-too-fun low male voices singing "Pot o' gold" periodically, the song will definitely be a favorite for your kids. It covers some topics that might be useful to you as well, notably rainbows and St. Patrick's Day. The rainbows are self-evident with the naming of the colors. The tie to St. Pat's is a little more vague, though the myth of finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow does tend to evoke green shamrocky images, does it not?

This is another tune with a swinging eighth note rhythm, though in this case it is hip hop, not jazz. Interesting that they can have this in common, isn't it? A great point of discussion for your music class.
