Who Hid The Cookie Cutters?

by John Riggio

Making Christmas cookies is a long-standing tradition at Christmastime, but what if December rolls around and you can't find the cookie cutters? And what does the family dog have to do with it? Mysteries abound! John explores this hypothetical situation in this humorous story song.

Punchy and merry, the rock groove of the accompaniment keeps the energy going even while the head scratching continues. There are some rhythmic challenges in this melody, but we have provided a bell guide melody on our tracks to help your singers. You'll need five actors with spoken lines to help tell the story. Our studio singers enjoyed performing this song, so if you're looking for inspiration for your young actors, please give the full performance of this song a listen. Note: We called our dog Barkley in the story, but you may use any dog name you wish – Rover, Astro, Buddy, Licorice, etc.

In live performance, this is one of those songs that would lend itself well to wearing accessories like Santa hats or aprons, or having kitchen items like a mixing bowl, whisk, cookie sheets, measuring cups, and so on. For the end of the song, it would help bring closure to the story for kid 5 to actually show a bag of cookie cutters, or just hold a few up to show that the cookie cutters have indeed been found.

To provide you with options, we have included a couple of alternate mixes on our web site for you. One is a full version with no dialog, the other is an accompaniment only version with no dog bark FX so you can add your own.
