Pictures With Santa

by Teresa Jennings

An annual tradition for many families during the holidays includes getting pictures taken with the jolly guy himself, Santa Claus! As you might expect, because the typical age group for such activities is younger, we have made sure this song works for all ages. It's quite simple and repetitive. There are even a couple of moments when they get to shout. The first time is, "Cheese!," just before the D.S. Then again at the very end with "on his sleigh!" (optional). Sprinkled throughout the song, you will hear camera shutter sound effects (FX). See if your students can hear them, too!

There is an optional jingle bells part that goes along with this song if you wish to use it. It is on the recording, so you don't have to. But just in case, we have created a PDF of the part and put it online for you.

Picture Some Sign Language!

One way to make this song a little more special in performance or just in the classroom is to add sign language. Fortunately for you, we happen to have someone who can help! You will find video demonstrations from teacher/signer Nate Jones that you can use to teach your students signs for this song. You will find these videos at our web site, free to subscribers.

Picture Some Dancing!

But wait! There's more! This little song is a great candidate for adding movement as well. So once again, our choreographer Melissa Schott has come up with some terrific ideas for you. She has included an instructional video and teaching notes that you can use with your performers as is or adapted however you like. This, too, can be found free at our web site.
