A Little Bit Holiday

by Teresa Jennings

What do you get when you combine the holidays with a marching band, country guitar, and rock 'n' roll rhythm section? In this case, you get "A Little Bit Holiday"! We feel that this ditty is so simple and contagious that your students will learn it very quickly. In fact, we feel confident enough to suggest you ask your audience to sing along, too! Once they have heard it the first time, project the lyrics or put them in the program and invite them to join in.

Even the second part, which is optional, is easy to hear and feels very natural to sing. It's just a third above the melody as it reinforces the names of the specifics. Everyone even gets to shout, "Hey!" at the beginning, the repeat, and the ending of the song.

For a little extra pizzazz, you can also add your own jingle bells to the mix if you like. The part is equally simple to learn, and if you want it even simpler, just let students play on every beat throughout. There is an extracted jingle bells part at our web site that you can download and duplicate as needed.

A Little Bit Of Movement!

You are probably going to want to march, dance, and move to this one. We say, go for it! To help you decide how simple or fancy to make your steps, we have enlisted the assistance of our choreographer, Melissa Schott. She has put together some steps you can imitate or adapt however you like. Her video and teaching notes can be found on our web site.

Special thanks to our resident guitarist, Tom Crowell, for his excellent assistance in adding that little bit of country style to the recording.
