Fall Is Here
by John Riggio
The autumnal imagery that this song brings to mind is crisp and colorful. If you're looking for a song to simply celebrate the joy of the season, "Fall Is Here" is a perfect candidate.
The song is mostly unison, though it does break into a higher, optional second part on the last time through the chorus.
The lyrics are simple, light, and fun and should be no problem to learn, especially if you use the P/A cassette as a teaching tool. John Riggio is generous in his use of synthesizers and effects to emphasize the easygoing flavor of the piece.
You might also want to use this song as a lesson in reading and singing syncopation. Again, listening to the song on the P/A cassette will help you feel the rhythms more readily. Once you have learned the song, you can apply what your students know to the written notations. Consider isolating phrases or pieces of phrases of the syncopation and studying them separately for the best results.
