T-H-A-N-K Y-O-U!
by Teresa Jennings
For no particular reason at all, we are providing this very short, very easy, very singable song. It is our thought that everyone has an occasion to say "thank you" to someone at some time or another. For example, you could use it for Thanksgiving, or you could say thanks to your principal, a teacher, an administrator, cook, custodian, etc. What better way to do it than with a song?
While it isn't necessary to have the P/A cassette, it sure is a fun recording - complete with 50's rhythm section plus organ. To play it live, if you can play the right hand part on the piano, you can alter the left hand part to comfortably play the root movement. Just be sure to keep it lively.
For added punch, have your students come up with hand/arm jives that spell out the words each time. For the letter U, they can point at the recipient of the sentiment.
