There's A Bunny In My Easter Basket
by Teresa Jennings/arr. Paul Jennings
There's not a lot of mystery to this silly little song. It is definitely geared to your youngest singers! The melody is very easy and there are even some pre-determined movements to go along with the chorus. If you are doing a spring/Easter program, you will find this a delightful (and secular) addition to your program. You could have your wee ones dress up like bunnies, for added cuteness. Or you could feature a single bunny doing the motions while the singers tell the tale... so to speak.
The arrangement on the P/A cassette is a whimsical one, complete with soft shoe sandblocks, clarinet, bass clarinet and muted brass. There are also some nifty "boings" during the chorus, as well as an Acme™ siren whistle, and a slide whistle and bass drum that demonstrate "falling down".
On the lyric sheet on page 33 we have provided illustrations of the movement suggestions. If you duplicate the sheet to hand out to your students, consider letting them customize their own sheet by coloring it.
One more suggestion: if you have all of your singers bow during the "Take a bow..." sections, have them keep their heads up so that the audience can still hear what they are singing!
