Merry Dolphins We
by Teresa Jennings
This lightly frolicking song is perfect for Spring performances, though it could certainly be used any time of the year. It could also help your music class tie in to the regular classroom studies of the ocean, dolphins, or sea life in general.
The song is unison and the lyrics simple and memorable enough that it should be accessible for most students. A clear, round sound is encouraged through the style and the range of the tune. You might even want to use it as a reinforcement of properly supported head voice singing.
The piano part is also playable enough that you may wish to consider performing this piece live. The flute part is essentially the upper notes of the right hand piano part, so you could add your own player, if you wish. Listen to the recording to determine when the flute comes and goes.
