Wade In The Water
arr. Paul Jennings
This great spiritual has been interpreted many ways over the years, including many choral settings and even a rock hit for Ramsey Lewis in the '60s. For your recorder players, we've added big band brass to a funky rock setting that should let your students feel like they're playing with the pros. It features low E, G, A, B, D, and high E, and as written, it isn't the easiest song of the year. Feel free to adapt the rhythms as needed, even leaving out some eighth notes if you like. And since the arrangement goes through the tune itself four times, you may also want to use the tracks to let your players try some pentatonic improvisation. The divisi notes at the end are optional, but worth using. Have fun with it!
