Rain, Rain, Go Away
arr. John Riggio
"April showers bring May flowers," or so the saying goes, which makes this song perfect for our March/April issue. This is the traditional song you grew up with, only with a Latin/light jazz rhythm arrangement and a little more melody and lyrics added. The rhythms are simple and the range is easy (middle C up to G), making this piece ideal for your younger singers.
In measure 17 and at the coda, we've provided an opportunity for your performers to shine using rain sticks. (If you don't already have rain sticks, there are articles describing how to make your own in the Network sections of Music K-8 Vol. 5, No. 3; Vol. 6, No. 2; and Vol. 12, No. 1. Prefabricated rain sticks are also commonly available for purchase, including through the Music K-8 Marketplace. See MusicK8.com or call us at 1-800-437-0832.)
