Adios, Amigos
by Teresa Jennings/arr. Paul Jennings
We published a song called "¡Hola, Amigos!" a couple of years ago in Volume 12, Number 1. Since then, we have had requests to follow it up accordingly with an "adios" song. So here it is!
Set in a Latin (what else?) style, the tune is short and the lyrics are definitely repetitious, so this should be easily learned by just about any student. The syncopations look a little scary on paper, but once kids hear how it goes, they will catch right on.
To make the tune a little more fun, we added an optional second part. It enters during the first ending on the pick-up back to measure 5. Note that if the voice leading is easier for the last phrase of the song, you can have students switch parts at the pick-ups to measure 11. This will only work the second time unless you decide to use both parts for both verses (which you certainly could).
