Cranberries Forever
by John Riggio
It's not a pretty sight when some foods get jealous of other foods 'cause we like them better. That's the theme of "Cranberries Forever," yet another in a long line of goofy food songs from your favorite music publisher, Plank Road Publishing. We've done a 1950s arrangement to add to the silliness, so performances will be more fun when dressing the part. Some options to consider: jeans, T-shirts, black leather jackets, sneakers, and greased hair for the boys; poodle skirts, saddle shoes, ponytails, scarves, and cat-eye glasses for the girls. Definitely string tons of cranberries to either adorn the performance area or the singers themselves.
The music is not especially challenging except for the occasional sixteenth note rhythms. These are very natural in this type of tune though, so we don't think your students will be stumped by them, especially once they hear our singers. We do recommend using our accompaniment tracks on the CD - you'll have your own '50s style rock 'n' roll band and background singers (our own John Riggio and Mike Wilson) to back up your performers. Though if you do have your own live rock group, go for it!
The song is in unison, complete with attitude. It does break into a four part harmony at the very end, but this is optional. (And yes, that's John doing the low male solos. He's silly, too.)
