May You Have Peace
by Teresa Jennings
The sentiments of this beautiful, 3-part song are genuine and from the heart. Just singing or hearing it makes us feel peaceful. And while the recording has a gorgeous, lush orchestration of it, the piano part is very nice, too.
Usually, a 3-part piece will suggest use by an older group. In this case, we have used three soloists - Holly McDaniel, Missy Schott, and Suzanne Wilson. Please let your students hear their wonderful performances. You may prefer to use an ensemble for the parts. You may also just use part 1 and do the tune in unison with a group, or as a solo. Parts 1 and 2 would also work with groups or solos. This may allow you to do the song with younger voices.
To make it even more special, we have included sign language for the song (by illustrator Cathy Blaski). You can find these signs on the reproducible lyric sheet on page 54.
To help your singers learn their parts, we have created isolated tracks for vocal parts 1, 2, and 3 which can be found on our web site at MusicK8.com We have also included an a cappella version of the three parts together. These are free MP3 downloads.
