Thankful Most Of All For Me
by David & Anne Ellsworth
This tune is an upbeat hoedown of gratitude! Since there are so many things to be grateful for, we list some of them in the song, concluding that we're thankful most of all for ourselves.
Teaching this song to your class can be creative fun! Invite your students to find pictures in magazines they can cut out of those things they are grateful for. Have them hold up the pictures during the song, either matching the existing lyrics or changing them to suit their needs. Let them draw pictures of the people they are grateful for and do a "people only" version. Try the song in "Bingo" fashion and leave out the words of things or people and invite them to point to them instead! "Thankful for my (point to someone or something instead of singing) and I'm thankful for my (point to someone or something instead of singing)," etc.
We want children everywhere to know that it's always a good idea to be thankful. A grateful heart is a happy heart. What are you grateful for?
