Wouldn't It Be Nice?
by Teresa Jennings
This gentle song of peace should be sung with a degree of poignancy and wistfulness. While it is written and recorded as a unison ensemble piece, you may wish to feature a soloist instead.
The background tracks very tastefully offer a warm support for the melody - building, changing tempo, moving musically together. The melody is reinforced by a flute and flugelhorn duet, while the harmonies in the strings and brass mesh perfectly with the two pianos. If you choose, you may certainly perform the piece live, but you will need two pianos to do it justice.
Note: You will hear that our singers used a soft articulation for the lyrics. This is particularly true of the first two words, which sound like "wooden it." We highly recommend you follow our lead as putting a hard "t" would yield potentially embarrassing results.
