Voccata #3
by Teresa Jennings
This is the third in a series of vocal exercises designed to show off the abilities of your singers. There are no lyrics (hence no lyric page) other than "da" and "ba." And that's actually part of the reason the piece is challenging! You'll see when you try it.
To help your students learn the piece and decide which tempo is best for them, we have provided three versions of it on the CD: slow, medium, and fast. The tracks for all three are also on the CD. As your singers become more comfortable, try the faster tempos. Our singers did a terrific job of demonstrating this work. To further assist yours in learning it, we have isolated both parts and put them online as free MP3 downloads. These are done at the slow tempo. (See below for more information.)
The piano part can definitely be played live, and therefore at any tempo you wish. However, our instrumental tracks add a certain flair you can't get from piano alone. We used strings, recorder, tambourine, hand drum, and piano.
