Fright Of The Blunder B

arr. Paul Jennings

Indeed, Rimsky-Korsakov may be spinning in his grave at the thought of this wacky adaptation of his orchestral interlude from the opera The Tale of Tsar Sultan. But it's a perfect way for your students to have a little more fun while learning the note "B."

Our recording features mainly square wave-based synthesizers (which sound more "bee-like") as well as guitar, bass, and drums in a rock style. In addition, the ending features some vintage cartoon bee sounds, adding to the fun for young players.

Obviously your players are only playing B, but they play it in a variety of ways, long and short. There is even one section that asks for staccato performance. More mature players might be able to technically form a "T" to do this more formally, but you may only want your beginners to concentrate on keeping these notes short, as opposed to longer notes in other sections of the tune.

We recommend that you play the original version of "Flight Of The Bumble Bee" for your class. If you or your library doesn't have a recording available, there are many of them available on iTunes and other such sites, including orchestral and solo performances that will be enjoyable for all involved.

This tune is a special added bonus taken from the new collection BAG Warm-Ups & Workouts For Young Players by John Riggio and Paul Jennings. You can learn more about this unique product on the flyer included in this issue or at our web site, which features excerpts of each tune. Visit MusicK8.com
