All Mine
by David & Anne Ellsworth
This sweet and charming tune is our primary tribute to Moms everywhere. It references Mom's Day (Mother's Day) in the chorus, but then goes on to point out that every day can be special when Mom is in your heart!
One thought we had in reference to mothers being "All Mine" was to make a distinction between school time and summertime. Whether moms work in the home or away, kids can usually have even more contact and opportunity to interact with her in the summer. So, we have included an alternative verse for your consideration. You will find it at the end of the music (page 37).
Then, of course, there is the option to make the song about dads: "My dad is all mine. My dad is all mine. I have lots of fun with my dad!," and so on.
During the introduction to the song and the ending, let students share pictures of their moms (or dads) with each other. They can draw them or bring actual photos of them. You can display these on an overhead projector or create a PowerPoint® presentation, or if your audience is small, just have each child hold up their picture for all to see at the appropriate times in the song.
