To help my third graders keep track of their recorders during our recorder unit, I create labels of the students' names, their grade, and their teachers' last names using the mail merge capability in Microsoft Word. Then, I print out two sets of the labels. Next, I put one label for each student on the top joint of his/her recorder and the other label on his/her recorder case, and I reinforce the label on the recorder case with clear packing tape.
