"In The Hall Of The Mountain King" - I gave each student a ball of green playdoh, and as they listened to the music, they pinched and molded it into a troll. They loved this! They kept their hands busy as they tried to create ugly old trolls with long pinched noses and googly eyes. They begged to make more characters from the music.
"Colors Of The Wind" from Pocohantas - After listening to and singing the song, students chose their favorite phrase to illustrate. These were really beautiful. They painted the "new corn moon" and the "colors of the wind" and other descriptive passages. I wrote out the words to the song and hung their paintings in the cafeteria next to the phrase it matched. Everyone LOVED them.
