We're always looking for new things to do with Peter and the Wolf. This was easy and effective. I did it with second grade.
- Lesson 1 - Read the story; listen to the introduction.
- Lesson 2 - Watch the Elmo version of Peter and the Wolf.
- Lesson 3 - While listening to the CD, make Peter and the Wolf themed puppets out of paper plates and popsicle sticks.
- Lesson 4 - Children raise up their puppets as their characters are featured in the story.
I pulled one riser to the center of the room for easy access and placed our library's little puppet theater on top. As I retold the story, the students ran behind the stage and held their puppets up. We had eight cats, six wolves, and one grandfather all squished together backstage, but the students didn't care one bit.
