This is a great trick I learned when I taught in a regular classroom:
At the end of the year, save all the bits of crayons or ask regular classroom teachers for the bits. Take them home and melt them in a low oven in cupcake liners in a muffin pan. Put a mix of the colors in each cupcake liner. Don't stir the colors together. Allow them to cool. You end up with rainbow crayons. The kids love using them for writing and drawing as you don't know what color is going to turn up next!
