For those days that the kids are bored, do something radically different. My room has an outside exit door. This past week I had an incredibly sleepy second grade. So, we dropped everything and RAN outside from my exit door to the front door of the school. Once inside, they got drinks, and with wide eyes (They were still in shock!) we got back to my room. We lost a few minutes, but it was worth it and they were awake! I had a comatose fifth grade go just outside my room and do 20 jumping jacks in the fresh air to get them moving. I don't do this very regularly, so this totally threw them for a loop! It was GREAT fun though, and I got their attention back.
