On a "fun" day, my kids love to play musical chairs. I'm not comfortable using chairs with K-2, so instead I print apples on red paper and pass them out to each student except one. We then play music (my kids prefer Motown, but you could pick another), and they walk around the room moving to the beat. When the music stops, they find an apple and stand next to it. The child who doesn't have an apple is out, but they get to pick an apple off the floor so the game can continue. Because of this they are never upset about being "out." They love it, and I am going to change it for the seasons (i.e., turkeys, snowflakes, hearts, shamrocks, etc.).
