While practicing SO, MI, LA, and DO, I show the kids various body positions and make them guess which position is what solfa pitch.
lying on tummy = DOkneeling = MI
standing = SO
standing with hands over head = LA
Then I call six to eight kids up to the front. On my count of three, they all assume the position of their choice. (This is to help prevent copying the movement of their neighbors. Otherwise, you'll have all "DOs" or whatever the popular choice is.) Then the class tries to sing the "song" that was made. We sing it forward and backward. Depending on the level of your class, you may only be able to do it with two or three pitches. I don't know why, but the kids love to do this exercise!
