My students LOVE Recorder Karate almost to the point of driving their classroom teachers crazy!
One of the procedures that I have found to be fun and a learning experience is taking "recorder attendance." I take roll at the beginning of class by having the students play a note on their recorders when their names are called. Usually this note is one that the majority of class is working to master. Sometimes I introduce a new note and have them practice for a minute before I take roll. They are able to hear the note played by other students and take pleasure in knowing that they are able to play it, too!
