Here is a revue, about 20 minutes in length, using all Music K-8 songs for an end of the year kindergarten program. It was created for four classes, but it could easily be adapted for more.
Kindergarten Program 2006Students enter the gym to...
Song: "A Beat In My Feet" from Music K-8, Vol. 16, No. 1
Teacher 1: Now boys and girls...we shall sing our vowel lesson for today!
Students: (grumbling ad lib)
- okay
- not again!
- all right
- awwwwww
Songs: "Vowel Chant" and "Apples And Bananas" from Music K-8, Vol. 16, No. 1
Student 1: I don't know about the rest of these kids, but I'm ready for summer vacation! Summertime is the best time of year!
All Students: YEAH!!!!! SUMMERTIME ROCKS!
Song: "Summertime Rocks" from Music K-8, Vol. 8, No. 5
Class 1: Dressed in "punk-rock/rapper" style costumes, i.e., jeans, colored/spiked hair, bling-bling, etc.
I have some "guitars" some of them can use as props. This class will come out front and begin the song with the "boom-shaka-laka-booms," and they will stay out front during the song with solo guitar players and maybe one air drummer. For costumes, think heavy metal rock and rollers.
Student 2: My favorite activity during the summer is going to the baseball games! I just love the (insert team name here)!Class 2: Dressed in baseball uniforms or with team shirts on. They will come out front and pretend to play ball with play bats and balls. If anyone has pro team banners, or anything that fans would use at the games to wave around, that would be good also.
Song: "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" from Music K-8, Vol. 8, No. 5
Student 3: My family and I love to go camping in the summer, and my favorite thing is to roast marshmallows around the campfire!
Class 3: Dressed in camping clothes. This class will sit around "campfires" and pretend to roast marshmallows during the song.
Song: "Ode To A Marshmallow" from Music K-8, Vol. 14, No. 5
Student 4: We always to the beach every summer. It is so much fun down at the beach.
Class 4: Dressed in beach clothes. No bathing suits but sunglasses, hats, beach towels around waist, beach balls, sand toys, etc. They will come out in front and do the motions in the song.
Song: "Down At the Beach" from Music K-8, Vol. 14, No. 5
Song: "Well, It's Been Fun" from Music K-8, Vol. 15, No. 5
Surprise song for the kindergarten teachers
Song: "Katy's Song" from Music K-8, Vol. 16, No. 5
This program was created for four kindergarten classes but could easily be adapted for more. A fifth class could represent the vowels for the first two songs, and a sixth class could be dressed "cowboy style" to go along with the country/Western flavor of "Well, It's Been Fun."
