I developed Vocal Football several years ago to encourage singing out, especially for the boys.
On a bulletin board, I put up strips to resemble yard lines, complete with the number, and used simple clip art to make tiny jerseys the kids wrote their names on, plus a number. (Since I have graphics software, I also color-coded the shirts per teacher). The shirts start at the 50 yard line, and as the kids sing progressively more difficult warm-ups, they advance to the goal line. Those who make it to the goal line get a touchdown and are invited to participate in the "Vocal Super Bowl," using tiny footballs and more difficult warm-ups. At first the boys were reluctant, but when one brave soul starts, their silly little competitive spirits kick in!
