For this activity I have a white lab coat, eight separate tone bells with a mallet for each one, and a large piece of foam on a stick (such as a broomstick size). One student is chosen to be "Dr. Klinkenbopper" (and puts on the lab coat); eight students have the tone bells. They do not stand in order, but mix themselves up. They call Dr. Klinkenbopper to help them. Dr. Klinkenbopper taps each one on the back or shoulder (gently) with the foam mallet and must sort them out and find a scale. They can only play their tone bell if he taps them. My kids love this, especially if I give them directions in a silly "German" accent. Lots of fun!
