To help students in pre-K/K learn/remember music terminology, I have students show me piano/forte feet. Piano feet are super quiet; for forte feet they stomp around the room. Then we do presto and largo hands. Presto hands are fast jazz hands; largo hands are slow waving over their head. This allows these students do both piano and largo, for example. I find that younger students, in particular, tend to believe that quiet and slow go together, and fast and loud go together. To start I just have students echo: Piano means soft, forte means loud, largo means slow, presto means fast. Then we regularly play the hands/feet games.
