I had a wonderful day of music with my 3rd and 4th graders last week. We are singing "Friendly Sounds" (from Music K-8, Vol. 11, No. 5). We stand in a square, and each side has a different part. It's so fun, and they love it! The part that starts on G is played on the recorder to give them some variation and confidence in part singing.
I also added Boomwhackers® as an ostinato this time! I only have the diatonic set, so we played Low C, then A with an end cap, then D, then G with an end cap. (C A D G) It was perfect! I hope that makes sense. I think my boys love this song because they get to sing low! Too low really, but for the experience they get, it is worth it to me!
I am crazy about this song!
