For costumes for The Littlest Christmas Tree, I bought green felt for the elves. I had a mother do the sewing. She basically cut a long rectangle with a hole for their heads, measured it to come right above the knee, and tied it with a rope belt - little tunic. The kids provided red turtlenecks and black pants. She also made them little Peter Pan hats (available in any sewing costume book). AND, she made them little booties - little triangles with bells on them. If you do that, be sure to add some sort of tape to the bottom for resistance, so they don't slip and fall. The art teacher had the kids paint large cardboard Christmas trees for the set and a big sign with candy canes on it. My Santa's mom had his costume made, but I know that Oriental Trading Post has a costume. Same with Mrs. Claus... basically a cute frilly dress, little glasses perched on her nose, and a frilly little apron from someone's Grandma! I cannot for the life of me remember what we had the Littlest Christmas Tree dressed as!!! The chorus on the risers all wore very nice Christmas clothes, and they each had some sunglasses for props in one of the songs. I added movement to several songs, and it was a hit!
